Description
Conic Hill has to be one of the most popular hikes for those visiting Loch Lomond and looking for a short hike that offers some fantastic views over the Loch and the surrounding area. The hike is fairly short at 4.75km total distance, but it does have a fairly steep ascent of 351m.
This is a great hike for those looking to get a bit of a workout in without having to spend all day out on the hills. The path itself is still under construction in places, but it is well marked and easy to follow. The views from the top are well worth the effort of the climb.
Route
The hike starts from the Balmaha Visitor Center carpark which costs £3.40 for 4 hours of parking. There are toilets and a small shop as well as the Oak Tree Inn which is a great place to grab some food and drink before or after your hike.
You walk through to the back of the car park and follow the well defined path up the hill. The path is well defined but can be slippy with loose gravel in the un-set sections which are currently under construction at the time of writing this.
There are two slightly trickier sections nearer the top which may be a bit of a challenge for those with mobility issues, but there are lower peaks that offer fantastic views of the Loch if you don’t fancy the final push to the summit.
